The Anatolia Preserve was established to preserve approximately 482 acres of vernal pool ecosystem in eastern Sacramento County. The site is composed of rolling annual grassland with vernal pool complexes interconnected by seasonal wetland swales. Anatolia Preserve also includes a drainage channel, water quality pond, muti-purpose detention facility, including riparian and marsh habitat. The preserve contains a number of vernal pool complexes including about 300 vernal pools whose area totals approximately 41 acres. A number of vernal pools contain populations of vernal pool tadpole shrimp and vernal pool fairy shrimp, as well as populations of Sacramento Orcutt grass. The SunRidge Conservancy holds the conservation easement for the preserve and functions and the preserve manager.
