The Mahon Ranch Preserve was established to preserve approximately 286 acres of Swainson’s hawk habitat in southern Sacramento County. The preserve protects grassland suitable for use by Swainson’s hawk as foraging habitat. The preserve also supports a number of vernal pools, riverine seasonal wetlands, and ephemeral drainages. The SunRidge Conservancy holds the conservation easement for the preserve and functions and the preserve manager.
